about

This is an Old Time song from Kentucky. This is a traditional tune collected on a porch from Brett Ratliff, a radio DJ and Old Time banjo player. He collected it from George Gibson, a fellow Kentuckian. It has been reported by Anna RG that the only way to get to George’s house is to have him pick you up in his giant truck which he drives up the shallow creek to come get you past the big rocks which keep any paved or dirt road from getting built

lyrics

Coffee grows on the white oak tree
River flows with brandy
I got a gal who's sweet and kind
Sweet as sugar candy

Swing and turn
Jubilee, live and learn, jubilee

Some come round on Saturday
Some come round on Sunday
If I had my pretty little miss
You wouldn't see me 'till Monday

Swing and turn
Jubilee, live and learn, jubilee

If I had no horse to ride
I'd be found a 'crawlin'
Up and down this mountainside
Searchin' for my darlin'

Swing and turn
Jubilee, live and learn, jubilee

Saddle up my milk white steed
I would be the rider
Headed on down to the cider mill
Fetch a jug of cider

Swing and turn
Jubilee, live and learn, jubilee
